Investing FAQs

What kinds of investments can I make using Northfield Investment Services?

Northfield Investment Services, offered through Infinex Investments, Inc., provides access to a complete range of investment options including traditional stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities, and insurance and long-term care insurance solutions, as well as low-risk and FDIC-insured options.

Is there any charge for a meeting with the Investment Consultant?

There is never a charge for the professional financial review and consultation with a Northfield Investment Services representative. If you purchase securities available through Northfield Investment Services, there may be fees associated with those securities.

My financial situation is complicated and I need investment, tax, and legal advice. What kind of help can you give me?

A Northfield Investment Services representative will work with you and your tax and legal advisors to help put together a plan that is appropriate for each situation. They have worked with many attorneys and tax professionals around the region, and are available for meetings with your advisors.

Northfield Investment Services does not provide tax advice. Investors should consult their tax preparer regarding their individual situation.

I have never worked with a professional broker before. How does the process work?

At your first meeting, a Northfield Investment Services representative will provide a complimentary review of your financial situation, your investment goals, your tolerance for investment risk, and your time horizon to meet those goals.  At your second meeting, a personalized plan will be presented for your review. If you approve of the investment plan, your assets will be transferred into the investments that have been selected. You will receive regular investment statements and updates on your account.

I'm already working with one of the big brokerage houses. Why should I switch?

Personal service has always been a guarantee of Northfield Savings Bank, and it is the hallmark of Northfield Investment Services as well. Our Investment Consultants are available to meet with you at your convenience and will work closely with you to create the investment plan that works best for you.

I'm not sure I am saving enough for my retirement. What kind of help can I get?

A full review of your current retirement savings, as well as various "what-if" scenarios, is an important part of the financial planning services that are provided to you at no cost. A Northfield Investment Services representative will work with you to create a plan for your investments based on your financial situation, your investment goals, your time horizon, and your tolerance for risk.

I am changing jobs. Can you provide help with my 401(k) rollover?

Absolutely. Changing jobs is an important time to review your 401(k), and you have options for what to do next: leave it where it is, roll it into a new plan, roll it to an IRA, or cash it out. A Northfield Investment Services representative will help you transfer it properly, and make sure you do not lose the tax-deferred status of your retirement funds.
