Community Hunger Project
One way the Community Hunger Project has made a lasting impact is by increasing participation in nutrition programs such as school breakfasts, summer meals, child care meals, and food stamps (now called 3SquaresVT). In addition, it has raised awareness about local causes and effects of hunger. While our emphasis has been on two of Vermont’s most densely populated areas, Washington and Chittenden counties, the Community Hunger Project model can be replicated elsewhere. Other Vermont counties and neighboring states are considering adopting the model, and the Project recently won a national community banker award. The bottom line is more children are being fed, and that is the best return on the Foundation’s investment. The NSB Foundation is proud to continue our partnership with the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger. When banking with Northfield Savings Bank, you too are helping fight hunger.
